No classes on 25 December, 1 January, 29 January or 5 February.

For painters who have completed our Foundation Course or have equivalent experience. Develop your own painting project with individual guidance, demonstrations and group critique.

Develop your own painting practice

Eight guided studio sessions give you time to explore an individual project, strengthen your technique and develop confidence in your decisions. The course is for painters with foundation-level experience.

What you will work on

Develop your own ideas and composition, explore a personal colour palette, and choose surfaces and painting methods that suit your project.

Through demonstrations, individual tutorials and structured group critique, you will receive support with colour mixing, underpainting, layers, texture and resolving a painting.

Across eight sessions, you will move from visual research and preparatory studies into sustained painting, refinement and a final discussion about how to continue your work.

What to bring

Please bring a sketchbook and visual ideas for the painting you would like to make: drawings, printed reference images or examples of artists whose work interests you. Oil-painting materials are included.
