Deniz Yurtbay (b. Istanbul, 1985) earned a BA from Koç University, Istanbul, in
2009. After completing her studies, she began working in the textile industry. She
further develop her interests in textiles through programs at Moda Academy in
Istanbul, 2010, the London College of Fashion, 2011, and the Fashion Institute of
Technology in New York, 2013. She is a self-taught artist who began painting in
2020. In her artistıc process she incorporates her knowledge of textiles with a naïve
painterly framework tethering these practices with her conceptual concerns related
to pointing out inequalities to women and current socio-economic issues in her
native Turkey.
