Course Payments, Cancellations, Transfers and Missed Classes

We keep our classes small and arrange tutors, materials and studio time in advance. These terms help us plan fairly while offering flexibility where possible.

These terms cover fixed-date courses, workshops and intensive programmes. Mentoring memberships, studio rental and private tuition are covered by separate agreements. Your course location is specified in your booking confirmation.

1. Booking and payment

Your booking becomes binding when we issue your booking confirmation. Please check the dates, times, location and course requirements before booking.

Payment is due in full when booking unless we have agreed a deposit or instalment plan in writing. For invoice bookings, the payment deadline stated on the invoice applies. Any deposit is credited towards the total course fee.

An instalment plan spreads the cost of the whole course; it is not a monthly subscription. Missing classes does not automatically cancel outstanding instalments. Any cancellation or refund entitlement will be reflected in the remaining balance.

The booking price includes the materials and services specified in the course description. Any compulsory additional costs, such as museum admission, will be identified before booking.

2. Cancelling your booking

Please contact info@burntsiennaberlin.com, reply to your booking confirmation, or send notice by WhatsApp to +49 176 31665401. Include your name and course details.

Cancellation takes effect when we receive your notice; you do not need to wait for our acknowledgement.

At least 21 calendar days before the course begins: you may cancel for a full refund, including any deposit paid.

Less than 21 calendar days before the course begins: we will try to refill your place. Any cancellation charge will be limited to our actual recoverable loss, up to the agreed course fee, after deducting saved expenses and income from refilling your place. We will explain any amount retained or still due. You may show that no loss, or a smaller loss, has occurred.

After the course begins: voluntarily withdrawing does not automatically entitle you to a refund for the remaining sessions. Any amount payable remains subject to applicable law, including deductions for saved expenses and replacement bookings.

Your statutory withdrawal and termination rights remain unaffected.

3. Transferring to another course

You may request one transfer to another available course at least 21 calendar days before your original course begins.

Transfers depend on availability and must be confirmed by us in writing. Any difference in course price will be payable or refunded, as appropriate.

Requests made later will be considered individually but cannot be guaranteed. If a transfer is unavailable, the cancellation terms above apply.

4. Giving your place to someone else

Before the course begins, you may nominate another person to take your entire booking at no additional transfer charge, provided they meet any published course requirements.

Please send us their details in advance so we can confirm the change. A booking cannot be shared between different people from week to week without our agreement.

5. Missed classes and make-up sessions

Your booking reserves a place on the advertised dates. Classes missed because of personal commitments, travel or short-term illness do not automatically qualify for a refund, credit or replacement session, subject to your statutory rights.

For courses with multiple sessions, you may request one complimentary make-up class. This is a discretionary courtesy, subject to a suitable place being available and our written confirmation. It is not guaranteed and has no cash value.

Make-up classes may have a different tutor or topic. We cannot provide individual replacement tuition for a missed group class.

Single workshops and intensive programmes do not include make-up sessions unless expressly agreed.

If serious illness or exceptional circumstances affect your attendance, please contact us promptly so we can discuss the available options.

6. Attendance and lateness

Please arrive on time and let your tutor know as soon as possible if you will be late or absent.

Late arrival may mean missing demonstrations or instructions. Sessions finish at the scheduled time and cannot be extended because of late arrival.

If you miss essential safety instructions, participation in the affected activity may need to wait until the tutor can provide them safely.

7. Changes or cancellations by Burnt Sienna

If we cancel a course before it begins, you will receive a full refund. You may choose a transfer or credit instead, but you are not required to accept one.

If we cancel an individual session, we will offer a replacement date. If you cannot attend that date, or no replacement is provided, we will refund the portion of the fee attributable to that session.

Where necessary, for example because of illness, we may arrange a suitably qualified replacement tutor, provided this does not materially change the course booked.

Material changes to dates, location, teaching hours or course content will be discussed with you. If you do not accept a material change, you may cancel the affected booking and receive a refund for the services not provided. Any further statutory rights remain unaffected.

8. Refunds and statutory rights

Refunds due under these terms will be processed within 14 days of cancellation or confirmation of the amount due, normally to the original payment method.

Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights, including any applicable statutory right of withdrawal, termination for good cause or remedies where we fail to provide the agreed service.

9. Which terms apply

The terms provided and agreed at the time of booking apply to that booking. Later changes to these terms do not automatically apply to existing bookings.

Any individually agreed arrangements take precedence over these standard terms.
