Develop strong observational drawing skills through structured teaching, museum study and regular studio practice. Burnt Sienna offers drawing courses for complete beginners, painters wishing to strengthen their foundations, and more experienced artists seeking a sustained drawing practice. Courses are taught in English in small groups in our Charlottenburg studio and across Berlin’s museums.

Museum & Studio Drawing with artist Jane Haycock

About the Course

Drawing begins with learning to see.

This six-week course combines guided museum visits with practical studio sessions, helping students develop the observational skills that underpin confident drawing and painting. Led by artist Jane Haycock, the programme encourages participants to slow down, look closely and build a deeper understanding of line, proportion, composition, tone and visual structure.

Alternating between Berlin's museums and the Burnt Sienna studio, each museum visit becomes the starting point for a week of studio investigation, allowing students to translate observation into practice through sustained drawing.

Suitable for beginners with some drawing experience through to intermediate artists, this course offers a structured yet supportive environment in which to build confidence and establish a regular drawing practice.
