Burnt Sienna Institute of Painting & Artistic Practice

Charlottenburg Expansion — April 2026

A Permanent Home for Painting in Berlin

From April 2026, Burnt Sienna expands into an 80m² studio and gallery space in Charlottenburg, near Schloss Charlottenburg and the UdK.

Interior room with an unfinished appearance, construction tools and supplies on the floor, a large window, and a radiator beneath it. Outside, parked cars and a building are visible.
Empty room with wooden flooring, white walls, ceiling track lighting, a window, and an open door.
Storefront with large glass windows and white doors, located on a city street with parking spaces and a building reflected in the glass, with a street sign on the wall.
Empty room with dark carpet, white walls, two windows, and a radiator, with some cables on the floor and a view of parked cars outside.

After eight years of steady growth in Neukölln, Burnt Sienna is establishing a permanent studio and gallery space in Charlottenburg under the name:

Burnt Sienna Institute of Painting and Artistic Practice Berlin

Since 2016, Burnt Sienna has offered structured oil painting programmes, mentoring, and exhibitions for painters seeking depth and seriousness outside the academy system.

Berlin has many art schools and academies. Yet there remains a gap: an independent, dedicated institution focused solely on rigorous painting practice, long-term development, and professional exhibition context.

The Institute marks a maturation of this commitment.

It brings teaching, mentoring, studio spaces, and exhibitions together under one roof.

The new space is an 80 square metre Gewerberaum in Charlottenburg, within walking distance of Schloss Charlottenburg and close to the academic department of the UdK.

The space will include:

• Dedicated painting studio areas
• Structured teaching space
• Small-scale gallery wall for exhibitions
• Mentoring and critique evenings
• Visiting artist programme

Renovation is currently underway and includes:

• Floor preparation and coating
• Electrical upgrades and track lighting
• Studio partitioning
• Installation of an industrial sink
• Gallery-standard wall preparation

Opening: April 1st 2026

To mark the founding of the Institute, a small Founding Patron Circle is being formed.

Beginning April 1st 2026, a limited number of patrons will support the establishment of the space and become part of its early history.

The Patron Circle supports:

• Renovation and infrastructure
• Exhibition launch costs
• Establishment of long-term programming
• Creation of a permanent platform for painters

Patrons receive:

• Recognition on the Founders Wall
• Acknowledgement on the website
• Invitations to private previews
• Transferable class vouchers
• Limited edition prints from the inaugural exhibition

Enquiries about the Founding Patron Circle may be directed privately.

FUNDRAISING EXHIBITION

The Institute will open with a fundraising exhibition in Summer 2026.

This exhibition will bring together painters connected to Burnt Sienna over the past nine years and marks the formal opening of the Charlottenburg space.

Further details will be announced soon.
